An Energy & Passion Like No Other!
Erin started her journey with two degrees: a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario and a B. Ed. from the University of Toronto. She then embarked on her teaching career, and it was as a teacher that Erin brought her gifts of knowledge to elementary and high school students in Ontario and Alberta. During this time, she also had the opportunity to develop a variety of courses and teach English as a second language (ESL).
Now that she has moved to Vancouver Island, Erin is devoting her time to tutoring (with a twist, we might add!) and sharing her knowledge of economics, mathematics, and English. Erin believes that working with students in a one-on-one environment offers the greatest opportunity for growth and development, and she loves to celebrate her students’ milestones as they achieve them.
Instilling learner confidence is a major part of Erin’s tutoring, as she recognizes that the ability to express oneself is core to life. Erin’s students eschew their former “freeze, fight, flee” (see the amber stop sign in the Twisted Process) tendencies and flourish with self-assurance (see the heart in the Twisted Process) when supported by her tutoring.

In Erin's own words:"To me, Tutoring…With A Twist fosters an atmosphere in which students have opportunities for ‘learning moments’ not just about the subject they are studying, but just as importantly about themselves. The Twist is helping them think about how to approach their own learning, about what they need to do in order to concentrate on any task, and about how to organize themselves in order to make the most of their time. These skills lead to success in school and beyond school. I had the most fun creating a golf course for a Learner who came to us needing to learn math and whose passion was golf! The golf course I created had a different kind of math question at each hole on the golf course. This Learner had come to us from Vancouver where he had tutors his whole way through school. One summer of getting Twisted with us and he changed his attitude towards math and was on his way! And THIS, is why I love my job!”
