GED Tutoring & Test Prep

Getting ready for your GED tests? Our GED tutoring can help you succeed!

The GED is based on traditional curriculum and is considered the equivalent of a high school diploma in both Canada and the United States. Many people pursue a GED to improve their skills and knowledge, find better employment, or prepare for post-secondary education.

Within British Columbia and Canada, the GED consists of five separate tests:

  • Language Arts – Writing
  • Language Arts – Reading
  • Social Studies
  • Science
  • Math

Taking these GED tests can be stressful, especially for students who struggled with the traditional education system. That’s where we can help. While the GED is based on a standardized curriculum, you don’t have to learn it in a traditional way!

Tutoring…With A Twist* is founded on the understanding that every student learns differently. Using our personalized approach to teaching, we modify every lesson to suit each student’s unique learning style. If something isn’t working, we try something else—it’s that simple. Every student has the ability to learn if they are taught in the right way.

Our GED tutors help you:

SAT Prep & Tutoring

If you’re applying to colleges or universities in the United States, you probably need to take the SAT exam. While American students prep for these exams as part of their high school education, the British Columbia Curriculum overlooks SAT prep, as most students don’t require it. If you’re planning to head south for your post-secondary education, you’ll need to do some extra exam prep and our SAT tutoring services can help you out!

The SAT exam consists of two major components:

  • Math
  • Reading/Writing

Each component is scored between 200 to 800, and those scores are then added together for an overall score between 400 and 1600. Many colleges will consider students with scores above 1000, while Ivy League Universities expect near-perfect marks. That’s a lot of pressure! Fortunately, tutoring can help you prepare and improve your SAT score.

Because the SAT can determine your future education options, a lot of students experience anxiety and other mental obstacles in their studies, practice tests, and exam. At Tutoring…With A Twist*, we help you overcome any emotional or mental challenges, so you can get the best possible score on your SAT.

The SAT exam also has an optional essay that some schools require for admission. If you choose to write the essay, you will be scored out of 8 in three separate categories: analysis, reading, and writing. We can help you determine whether you should write the essay and, if so, build up the skills that will help you succeed with it.
