Gabrielle grew up in beautiful British Columbia where she grew to love reading and writing from an early age. She enjoyed working as a peer tutor during her undergraduate degree at the University of the Fraser Valley. Then, she decided to continue her education at the University of Victoria, where she earned her teaching degree.
Shortly after graduation, she was hired to work as a high school French teacher! She had the opportunity to teach so many wonderful learners. Ultimately, Gabrielle believes that French should be taught in a way that will help learners to use their language skills in the real world. She encourages learners to participate in dialogues, listening activities, and games that use the target language. And “miss-takes” are totally okay! (See the “clapperboard” in our Twisted System!)
Teaching high school was a great experience, but something even better happened in the spring of 2022 — Gabrielle had a baby girl! Nowadays, life looks different, but teaching is still an important part of who Gabrielle is. She is passionate (see the “litmus strip” in our Twisted System!) about helping learners succeed and achieve their goals.
We welcome Gabrielle and baby (!) back to our Twisted Team as Gabrielle worked with us prior to becoming a Mom!

Miss-takes are not only okay, they are an important part of the process and actually help us learn. Learners set achievable goals for themselves, and tutors and learners work together towards the same goal. Achieving small goals will build the learners' confidence and they will begin to believe that they can accomplish big goals, too! Tutors also try to connect academic subjects to things the student is passionate about, such as sports or pop culture. These connections create a positive environment in which learners are highly motivated to learn."
