Make Learning Fun Again!
Sara is a passionate student with a strong background with kids in both an online and in-person setting.
In Sara’s free time she loves to cross-stitch, mostly Palestinian patterns, but has recently gotten into some more generic ones like ducks crossing the street. Maybe she knows the answer to the age old question about the chicken crossing the street ;)! She also loves learning languages! She knows three: French, English, Arabic and is currently learning her fourth language: Italian.
With a strong foundation in Science, Math, and French, Sara was recognized with two Honour Rolls and a Silver Medal for Academic Excellence upon graduation.
At the moment, Sara is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering at Carleton University, where she has completed her most recent semester with an A+ average. Her academic achievements are what motivate her to teach others and share with them the joy of learning she feels. We wonder how she has time to sleep?!
Sara has experience working with a wide range of age groups, including young children and pre-teens, and has a particular talent for creating engaging, student-centred learning environments. From leading weekly activities for 20 preschool campers to teaching online studies to learners aged 6–13, she’s learned a thing or two about patience and how important it is in a learning environment! Her camp background has also given her the tools and creativity to be able to plan fun lesson plans, where learners are engaged with the material.
In addition to her teaching experience, Sara is highly proficient with digital tools and platforms used for online learning—after all, she is becoming a software engineer. She is passionate about making learning an interactive experience and does her best with online resources such as Zoom, Google Meet, Quizlet, and interactive whiteboard apps on her iPad to make that dream come true.

In Sara's own words:The "Twist" to me means meeting students where they're at and understanding their mindset, not just academically, but personally. It's making tutoring a fun, creative, and engaging activity, not one which makes kids go "ughhh". It's giving the experience to students that they otherwise wouldn't have in a traditional classroom. This helps them to realize their potential in a way that fits their personality, learning style, and real-life goals. It's not just about boosting grades; as I like to think, those are just numbers on a paper that will eventually be thrown away. Instead it's about helping children feel confident, curious, and capable, so they enjoy learning and always remain curious especially as they grow older.
