Does In-Home Tutoring Suit Your Child?

When it comes to learning, a student’s comfort level can heavily impact their progress. What better place to get comfortable than in their own home? If you’re looking to get the best educational support for your child, in-home tutoring might be for you.

The Perks of In-Home Tutoring

The education landscape has changed drastically, and tutoring can accommodate the challenges students are facing. In-home tutoring gives students a chance to learn in an environment that works for them, allowing them to thrive in school and life.

Traditional classrooms can be boring, stressful, or downright unproductive, and that can hurt a child’s odds of success. Bringing the classroom home is a great way to create a positive atmosphere, helping kids to develop healthy work habits and fall in love with learning.

Students who work with an in-home tutor enjoy the following benefits:

  • A comfortable working environment
  • Increased confidence
  • Personalized assistance for all grade levels and subjects
  • Extra help with learning disabilities
  • Heightened focus
  • Hands-on learning
  • Go-at-your-own-pace approach
  • And many more!

Sounds great, right? If you think your child could benefit from in-home tutoring, we would be happy to get started. We currently offer in-home tutoring in the following locations across Vancouver Island:

Things to Considerin-home tutoring learning

Before committing to in-home tutoring, it’s important to consider exactly how it could work in your home. The dynamic will be different for everyone, but there are some baselines to establish.

Conducive Environment

Tutoring at home is great, but there needs to be an emphasis on tutoring. If there are too many distractions such as loud noises or curious siblings, it will make things difficult. Also, students should have a dedicated workspace with all the tools they need to succeed. A desk in a well-lit room with pencils, papers, etc. does the trick!

COVID-19

With health concerns surrounding COVID-19, make sure you’re taking all necessary precautions to prevent exposure. Hands and work surfaces should be washed/disinfected before and after each session. It is also advised to wear a mask when interacting with those from outside the household, so that consideration should be factored in as well.

For children under the age of 18, in-home tutoring must be monitored by a secondary adult at all times. This doesn’t mean a parent needs to stand by and observe the entire session, but it does mean that a parent/guardian needs to be home while tutoring is happening.

Pricing

There is a slight price difference between in-home tutoring and other forms of tutoring. You can see the pricing breakdown by viewing our twisted tutoring services page. On the bright side, no matter what type of tutoring you choose, you’ll always be eligible for free tutoring!

Alternatives to In-Home Tutoring

In-home tutoring can work incredibly well for some families, but there are other options too. Our twisted tutors are happy to accommodate learners of all styles, and we’ll always find what works best for your child.

Online Tutoring

Online tutoring provides all the benefits of in-home tutoring, but without direct contact. Your child can stay in the comfort of their own home and set up with a laptop, tablet, or even a smartphone. Online tutoring is becoming increasingly popular, and we highly recommend it!

Private Tutoring in a Public Place

Sometimes home isn’t the best place to get work done. For students who still wish to establish that one-on-one connection in person, a public place is a sound alternative. Coffee shops, youth centres, and any other places your child finds comfortable can work perfectly for private tutoring.
